Medical Support Professional

The Clinical Assistant plays a vital role in the healthcare team, responsible for preparing patients for examination, assisting with medical procedures, and documenting patient information. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in medical assisting, with experience in a physician office or outpatient clinic setting. A certified medical assistant (CMA) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate medical functions for the provider in the practice
- Assist patients to exam rooms, take medical histories, and record vital signs
- Assist with medical procedures and exams, maintain and order stock in exam rooms and medical supply inventories
- Schedule procedures and surgeries, and obtain pre-certification as necessary
- Responsible for cleaning treatment rooms between patients and at the end of the day, and the proper cleaning and storage of all equipment used in patient treatment
- Responsible for the disposal of all toxic waste in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines
- Responsible for sample medication, the proper recording and distribution of such medication
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certified medical assistant (CMA) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) certification preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
Working Conditions
This position requires working under stressful conditions and may be required to work irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic chemicals and/or fumes, and potentially dangerous body fluids is possible.
On-call clinical coverage for Southeast Care Team offices may be required.
