About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist and Care Assistant (CNA) to join our team at Putnam Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. As a Phlebotomist and Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our residents, combining duties as both a CNA and phlebotomist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine nursing care, maintain a safe environment, and assist with activities of daily living.
- Conduct blood draws for laboratory testing, ensure proper identification and labeling of samples, and follow safety protocols.
- Coordinate, accompany, and assist with Residents transportation to and from appointments, ensuring safety and adherence to schedules.
- Accurately document blood draws, patient interactions, and any incidents. Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.
- Clean and maintain phlebotomy equipment, report malfunctions, and store equipment properly.
- Adhere to infection control procedures, use PPE, and report any communicable diseases.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; CNA certification in New York; Phlebotomy certification (ASCP, NPA, or similar).
- Minimum 1 year as a CNA in a skilled nursing facility; phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to handle stressful situations; patience and compassion for working with elderly and disabled individuals.
