Production Manager Assistant

As a Production Supervisor at Balchem, you will play a critical role in maintaining production levels while ensuring adherence to strict safety, food safety, and quality standards. Under the direction of the Production Manager, you will supervise employees, perform department activities, and communicate with internal departments to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities- Problem-Solving and Reporting: Identify and correct problems that arise, reporting them to the Production Manager in a timely manner.
- Operational Accuracy: Ensure operator accuracy of paperwork, labeling, tool checklists, and record-keeping materials.
- Team Supervision: Supervise operators and leads, effectively communicating production turnover and ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Training and Development: Train and supervise production workers in all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties.
- Quality and Safety: Ensure that manufacturing, training, cleaning, safety, quality, and other procedures are strictly adhered to, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
- Maintenance and Equipment Operation: Operate mechanical equipment safely and efficiently, working with maintenance personnel to address equipment needs and coordinate those needs with production scheduling.
- Troubleshooting and Improvement: Involved in troubleshooting situations, developing corrective action plans, and providing suggestions for continual improvement, applications of lean processing, and implementation.
- Employee Development and Discipline: Coach employees in a teamwork environment for continuous improvement, discipline employees when policies are not adhered to (attendance, punctuality, performance, etc.), and ensure self-involvement, team involvement, and execution of tasks relative to achieving annual departmental goals.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, preferred, and a minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory experience.
- Operational Skills: Able to operate a forklift and possess good communication skills, high math and reading skills, and high mechanical ability.
- Personal Qualities: Must be responsible, maintain a positive work attitude, safety-minded, quality-minded, management-supportive, and company-oriented.
