Position Overview

The Deputy Director of Student Conduct serves under the guidance of the Associate Dean/Director of Student Conduct and Ethical Development. This role requires a strong background in administrative functions related to student disciplinary processes, the development of educational initiatives, and peer-led programs. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and investigating cases, creating comprehensive reports, adjudicating matters, and implementing educational and disciplinary measures while managing a caseload of alleged breaches of the Student Conduct Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Investigation, Adjudication, and Case Management

  • The Deputy Director will utilize their extensive knowledge of student development theories and case management practices to oversee student disciplinary cases. This includes conducting thorough investigations, drafting detailed reports, and managing a diverse caseload.
  • Maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality, the incumbent will draft and manage communications that clarify complex policies and procedures related to student conduct.
  • Collaboration with various campus departments, including Title IX, University Police, and Housing Services, is essential to address cases and implement sanctions effectively.
  • Working independently, the Deputy Director will enforce the Standards for Student Conduct and collaborate with housing departments on referrals and adjudications.
  • Accurate record-keeping and data entry into relevant databases are crucial, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and institutional policies.

Student Development and Educational Programs

  • The incumbent will be dedicated to fostering student learning and success through the development of innovative educational programs and sanctions. This includes initiatives focused on behavioral redirection, academic integrity, and civic responsibility.
  • Assisting in the formulation of learning goals and outcomes, the Deputy Director will evaluate and refine educational programs based on assessment measures.
  • They will also promote marketing initiatives and educational opportunities for faculty and student organizations, seeking external funding to support these efforts.

Administrative Support and Compliance

  • The Deputy Director will represent the office in various meetings and committees, providing leadership in the absence of the Associate Dean/Director.
  • Assisting in the collection and analysis of statistical data related to student behavior, the incumbent will contribute to the development of proactive strategies for student retention and success.

Supervision and Training

  • In addition to their primary responsibilities, the Deputy Director will oversee the selection and training of graduate and student assistants, ensuring their development aligns with the office's educational goals.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree and relevant professional experience are required, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in case management, crisis intervention, and behavioral support are essential.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills are necessary for effective collaboration within a diverse team.
