The Veterinary Care Specialist provides daily care, feeding, and exercise of boarding and hospitalized animals. This role requires attention to detail, understanding of proper feeding and sanitation procedures, and monitoring of boarding and hospitalized pets.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and uphold the core values and mission statement of Mission Veterinary Partners.
- Provide compassionate care to boarding pets and hospitalized patients.
- Check-in animals for boarding, interact with clients, and record all information on boarding forms.
- Feed and water animals according to schedules, administer medications, and apply flea and tick control.
- Record medication instructions, walk through the kennel area regularly, and check for abnormal activity.
- Make medical records, inform receptionists of doctor charges, and take pets to the treatment area for medical services.
- Report abnormal activity to doctors and technicians, recognize emergency situations, and enlist aid as needed.
- Supervise animals in the yard, perform play times or walks, and clean and disinfect cages, runs, and yard as needed.
- Wear personal protective equipment, maintain equipment in good working order, and check out animals for boarding.
- Confidence around animals and pets.
- Knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques.
- Knowledge of infectious diseases and how to control and prevent their spread.
- Reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability to perform duties proficiently.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and be at least 16 years of age.
