Parking Enforcement Job Description

Job Summary:

The City of Amarillo, Texas is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Parking Enforcement Officer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for enforcing parking restrictions in the downtown area and ensuring compliance with city ordinances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol designated areas to identify and address parking violations
  • Issue parking tickets to vehicles in violation of city ordinances
  • Impound vehicles with excessive unpaid parking tickets
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and interactions
  • Ensure assigned vehicle is clean and well-maintained
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to public inquiries
  • Testify in court as required
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 12 hours of college credit from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of one year of experience in dealing with the public
  • Previous experience with law enforcement or parking enforcement preferred
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a criminal history check and background check

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often under stressful conditions. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with the public, work independently, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
