Job Summary

Mountain Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Registered Professional Forester (RPF) to support PG&E's Gas, Transmission, Routine and Wood Management Vegetation Programs. The successful candidate will coordinate with property owners and contractors, obtain necessary permits, and ensure compliance with PG&E's specifications and governmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with property owners and vegetation management contractors regarding vegetation management work to be performed and obtain necessary permits.
  • Perform emergency response duties in accordance with safety requirements, laws, and regulations, and applicable labor agreements.
  • Supply PG&E with copies of all permits obtained and provide professional and technical advice on the management of PG&E timberlands.
  • Patrol electric line sections and identify vegetation hazards, inspect individual jobs in the field, and secure permission from property owners before vegetation management work commences.
  • Supervise tree replacement and high production seedling planting activities, audit ongoing and completed vegetation management jobs, and maintain direct contact with local PG&E operating personnel.
  • Maintain working relationships with public agencies, resolve customer complaints, and perform emergency or storm-related tree work as required.
  • Assist PG&E foresters in planning and organizing timber harvests, complete Timber Harvest Plans, and conduct pre-inspections to obtain approved THPs.
Requirements
  • Registered by the State of California as a professional forester in good standing.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in hazard tree removal projects along utility rights of way.
  • Familiarity with vegetation management contractors' work practices, proper arboricultural techniques, and government agency requirements related to line clearances and fire prevention.
Work Environment

The office location will be determined and strategically placed to cover the geographic service territory identified by the PG&E Representative. The work environment will be typical of an office setting with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time.
