Position Summary
The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in welcoming patients and guests, ensuring a smooth check-in and appointment scheduling process. This position is responsible for collecting and verifying patient information, maintaining confidentiality, and facilitating point-of-service collections. By providing exceptional service, you will enhance patient satisfaction and support various functions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and guests with professionalism, whether in person or over the phone.
  • Initiate the appointment scheduling and patient registration processes.
  • Accurately gather and input demographic and financial information into the system.
  • Verify insurance details through electronic means or direct communication.
  • Collect co-pays and inform patients of their financial responsibilities.
  • Balance cash drawers and prepare deposit slips at the end of each shift.
  • Adapt communication style to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure seamless patient experiences.

Qualifications
Education:
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree.
Experience:
  • Required: Minimum of one year in a related field such as healthcare, customer service, or financial counseling.
Certifications:
  • Preferred: Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) or similar credentials.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in data entry and retrieval using various software applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations with professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance processes and regulations.

Physical Demands:
This role may require the ability to exert physical effort, including lifting and moving objects. The work environment involves direct interaction with patients and may expose the incumbent to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
