Position Overview:

As a key member of our team, you will:

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to enhance operational processes.
  • Conduct time studies as required to optimize efficiency.
  • Manage purchase orders for tooling and materials that fall outside machine scope.
  • Update tasks and work orders within the Visual Factory (MES) system.
  • Validate the assembly processes for new product lines.
  • Engage with Engineering during the C sample phase to analyze variations.
  • Assist in managing changes to processes on the production line.
  • Implement and uphold testing protocols to ensure the quality and functionality of battery packs.
  • Prepare and present build documentation to the production team under tight deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot production equipment related to battery manufacturing as needed.
  • Focus on the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within your area of responsibility.
  • Drive and execute ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated with the latest knowledge in controls, testing technologies, and industry practices.
  • Provide training to production operators when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

  • This role is integral to the NPI Team, supporting Proterra's Battery Manufacturing and Engineering operations.
  • You will report to the NPI Lead Manager and work closely with other Engineering team members.

Candidate Profile:

  • A self-starter capable of adapting interpersonal styles to influence various organizational levels, particularly in technical areas.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, establish trust, and act with integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven ability to conduct failure investigations independently.
  • Strong analytical skills with effective communication across all levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or testing electric vehicles is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics and prints, with experience in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Ignition MES is a plus.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Willingness to work various shifts as needed; potential travel for training and testing.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and reaching in various environments.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to discern color variations and depth perception.
  • Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive motion.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with extreme temperature variations.
  • Must wear protective clothing or respiratory equipment as required.
  • Exposure to irritant chemicals and gases may occur.
