Job Summary:

This is a high-level position within the nursing field, requiring a high degree of nursing knowledge and ability. The Registered Nurse Specialist-F/C Ops will be responsible for providing nursing care within the unit and serving as a nursing resource to the treatment team.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer medications, bloodwork, IVs, and related procedures.
Monitor or supervise non-licensed personnel in monitoring blood pressures, temperatures, pulses, and respiration.
Administer or supervise the administering of treatment orders for salves, bandages, enemas, urinalysis, preparation for x-rays, and related procedures.
Provide appropriate progress reports on residents.
Assist the medical physician during sick calls, during physical examinations, as needed.
Provide emergency nursing care and examination of injuries.
Participate in the formulation of individualized residents' treatment plans.
Admit and transfer residents to and from home unit or other hospital facilities; assure that appropriate documentation accompanies residents.
Perform nursing procedures as indicated.
Participate in resident evaluations and in development of each resident's treatment and discharge plan with the treatment team.
Preparation of nursing care assessments for designated residents.
Serves as a resource person to train staff.

Requirements:

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code and two years of professional nursing experience, including one year of professional experience in a specialty field as determined by the employing agency.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing or a related field can substitute for one year of the required general professional nursing experience.
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, nursing education, public health, or a related field can substitute for two years of the required general professional nursing experience.

Work Environment:

This is an OPS position with the Minimum of 24 hours and the Maximum 40 hours worked per week. Shift and unit may vary based on need of the facility.

The applicant selected to fill this position shall be required to submit to a pre-employment medical examination. This position requires lifting, pulling, and squatting. Duties of this position require the incumbent to be knowledgeable of and utilize the principles of Total Quality Management.
