Key Responsibilities
  • Store Operations: Direct and coordinate the activities of department store personnel, ensuring seamless customer service and efficient store operations.
  • Profitability and Sales: Analyze business trends, plan, and implement strategies to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives.
  • Merchandise Management: Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels through regular stock and sales report analysis.
  • Inventory Control: Implement and maintain effective inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Cash Office and Courtesy Systems: Have a working knowledge of all cash office and courtesy systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Coaching and Development: Coach, counsel, and develop team members to enhance their skills and advance their careers.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Weekly Conference Calls: Participate in weekly conference calls with the Director of Stores to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Physical Inventory and Cycle Inventories: Conduct annual physical inventory and cycle inventories to ensure accurate stock levels.
  • DM Meetings: Attend weekly DM meetings as needed to discuss store performance and goals.
  • Square Footage Analysis: Complete semi-annual square footage analysis to optimize store layout and sales.
  • Compliance Audits: Conduct audits to ensure store compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Co-worker Scheduling: Partner with the Human Resource Manager to produce co-worker schedules that meet budget guidelines.
  • New Hire Training: Perform interviews and training for newly hired sales co-workers.
Qualifications
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, management, buyers, and customers.
  • Leadership Qualities: Demonstrate strong leadership qualities, including initiative, enthusiasm, team working, and organizational skills.
  • Computer and Business Analysis Skills: Have excellent computer and business analysis skills, with the ability to interpret reports and make informed decisions.
  • Work Schedule: Be able to work varied hours and days as business dictates.
  • Experience and Education: Possess prior retail management or supervisory experience (approximately 10 years) and a high school diploma or equivalent, with a college degree preferred.
