Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineering Intern to join our team at Marine Solutions, Inc. in Salt Lake City. As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of civil engineering and contribute to real-world projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with various engineering tasks and assignments, including preparing for and conducting field inspections, data reduction, reporting, engineering analyses, and design.
  • Work closely with our experienced engineers to gain practical insights into the world of civil engineering.
  • Participate in technical review meetings with engineering and planning staff.
  • Review engineering plans, reports, studies, and related documents.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • Ability to define problems, collect/interpret data, evaluate facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively communicate findings/results.
  • Higher-level mathematics, including trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and calculus, and its application to surveying and engineering computations.
  • Possess knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of engineering and the ability to keep current with new developments.
  • Possess knowledge of construction practices (concrete, steel, carpentry, welding, etc.).
  • Proficient in technical writing.
  • Proficient in basic computer functions (Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Current medical certifications including bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen administration if performing fieldwork.
  • Possess Marine Solutions core values including integrity, teamwork, dependability, and going above and beyond.
  • Curriculum focus in structural or geotechnical engineering.
  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Engineering software experience.

Working Conditions

The duties of this position require the intern to regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.

While in the field, the intern may be required to walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather conditions, and stand up to eight hours or more at a time.
