Job Summary

The Bariatric Behavioral Coach provides behavioral health evaluations for patients undergoing bariatric surgery and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct behavioral health evaluations and provide formal written assessments for bariatric surgery patients.
  • Develop and implement behavioral/lifestyle coaching plans to promote safe and favorable outcomes for patients pre- and post-operatively.
  • Assess patients using relevant screening tools and evaluation methods to determine suitability for bariatric surgery, adapting to meet individual needs and preferences.
  • Screen for special needs and accommodate as necessary within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Review and screen patient information, medical records, and conduct interviews to evaluate patient needs and set behavioral/lifestyle goals collaboratively with patients.
  • Make recommendations for further behavioral health evaluation and treatment in the community as needed.
  • Utilize recommended guidelines for health interventions for chronic disease and obesity that align with bariatric program guidelines.
  • Provide documentation in a professional and timely manner and coordinate with appropriate team members.
  • Engage in program activities and develop and facilitate support groups for patients.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field, such as social work or psychology.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in North Carolina.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate sensitively to patients' needs.
  • Ability to establish credibility with physicians, staff, and patients.
  • Ability to function as a part of a team and promote teamwork.
  • Excellent grammar and communication skills.
  • Time management and multi-tasking capability to monitor numerous patients simultaneously.
