Bariatric Behavioral Coach Job Description

Job Summary:

The Bariatric Behavioral Coach is a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, providing behavioral health evaluations and support for patients undergoing bariatric surgery. This role involves assessing patients' suitability for surgery, developing personalized behavioral and lifestyle plans, and collaborating with patients to achieve safe and favorable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough behavioral health evaluations to determine patients' suitability for bariatric surgery.
  2. Develop and implement individualized behavioral and lifestyle plans to promote healthy weight loss and management.
  3. Collaborate with patients to set and achieve realistic goals, providing ongoing support and guidance throughout the process.
  4. Screen patients for special needs and accommodate their requirements within the multidisciplinary team.
  5. Review and screen patient information, medical records, and conduct interviews to inform treatment decisions.
  6. Make recommendations for further behavioral health evaluation and treatment as needed.
  7. Utilize evidence-based guidelines for health interventions and obesity management.
  8. Provide timely and professional documentation, coordinating with team members as necessary.
  9. Engage in program social media activities, promoting the clinic's services and expertise.
  10. Develop and facilitate support groups for patients, fostering a sense of community and connection.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, with a license to practice as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Current North Carolina driver's license.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to relate sensitively to patients' needs.
  • Excellent telephone skills and etiquette.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information, adhering to HIPAA and Code of Ethics standards.
  • Ability to establish credibility with physicians, staff, and patients.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a focus on promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Mature and demonstrates good judgment.
  • Excellent grammar and communication skills.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to monitor multiple patients simultaneously.
