Position Overview:

The accounting division that supports the Partnerships Refined Products Acquisition and Marketing (RPAM) is tasked with the financial oversight and administration of all refined products and natural gas liquids transactions. This managerial role is accountable for the precise and timely reporting of profit-sharing calculations and the corresponding payments throughout the fiscal year.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the daily functions and professional development of two full-time employees (one senior accountant and one staff accountant).
  2. Address any inquiries or issues related to the daily operations of the team members.
  3. Ensure that the team's work is executed with accuracy and punctuality.
  4. Supervise the monthly, quarterly, and annual profit-sharing calculations in collaboration with our butane blending partners.
  5. Identify, communicate, and resolve discrepancies in butane blending supply costs for both internal and external stakeholders promptly.
  6. Verify that all activities reported in the profit-sharing calculations are accurate and timely before review by the Refined Products Accounting Manager.
  7. Respond to all business development inquiries regarding supply cost figures in the profit-sharing calculations.
  8. Review monthly sales and billing reports to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  9. Provide any ad-hoc analyses as requested by management.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience (the role can be classified as Lead Accountant or Supervisor based on experience).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective in coordinating and implementing changes.
  • Able to identify the root causes of accounting issues and resolve them effectively.
  • Proficient in business computer applications and capable of learning and documenting processes.
  • Willingness to provide overtime support as needed, particularly during month-end reporting periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or CPA is advantageous.
  • Experience in the oil and gas sector is preferred but not mandatory.

Work Environment:

The characteristics of the work environment are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this role:

  1. Typical office working conditions.
  2. Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time due to extended periods of sitting or standing.
  3. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
