Ledgemere Transportation is a community-focused provider of school transportation services, dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of students and their families. Our team comprises skilled professionals, including drivers, dispatchers, and support staff, all committed to delivering reliable and secure transportation solutions.
As a School Bus Safety Attendant, your primary responsibility will be to assist the bus driver in maintaining a safe environment for students during transit. This role involves helping students as they board and disembark from the bus, conducting safety inspections, leading emergency procedures, and communicating any behavioral concerns to parents and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all passengers throughout the bus journey.
- Assist students in safely entering and exiting the bus.
- Conduct thorough safety checks to maintain a secure environment.
- Familiarize yourself with routes and remain vigilant to monitor student welfare.
- Check for any sleeping children before departure.
- Support the driver in safely maneuvering the vehicle, especially in reverse.
- Lead emergency evacuations, utilizing emergency exits as needed.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate service doors and navigate steps frequently.
- Report behavioral issues and conditions at various bus stops to the driver.
- Engage with parents as necessary regarding student behavior.
- Assist in keeping the bus clean and orderly.
- Occasionally participate in field trips and special events to ensure passenger safety.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children or students.
- Completion of a comprehensive training program.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
