Investigator V

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investigator V to join our team at the County of Maui. As an Investigator V, you will conduct complex and confidential investigations of civil and criminal cases, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to clarify or substantiate findings of law enforcement agencies.

• Conduct thorough and impartial investigations of complex cases, including those involving government officers and employees, organized crimes, and career criminals.
• Interview and interrogate witnesses, suspects, and other individuals to gather information and evidence.
• Prepare detailed reports on findings, including physical evidence and witness statements.
• Assist in the presentation of cases before the grand jury, jury, and non-jury trials.
• Testify in court and produce and identify physical evidence.
• Conduct highly confidential investigations involving suspected cases of fraud, malfeasance, employee misconduct, and other sensitive matters.

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in police science, sociology, psychology, public administration, or a related field.
• At least three years of full-time investigational or law enforcement experience, including six months of full-time criminal investigative work.
• Possession of a valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3).
• Knowledge of investigational methods and techniques, the rules of evidence and laws of arrest, court procedures, and legal instruments.
• Ability to interpret laws, rules, and regulations, collect and assemble facts, and think logically and objectively to analyze and evaluate evidence.
