Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Retail Sales Consultant is responsible for driving sales within their designated area. This role involves managing all aspects of the assigned territory to achieve and surpass sales targets, collaborating with clients to foster business growth, and enhancing market presence. The consultant will work closely with the Retail Manager to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process customer orders and respond to inquiries efficiently.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials as necessary.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales initiatives to meet and exceed sales objectives.
  • Provide installation guidance to contractors and end users for their projects/products.
  • Maintain existing retail business while seeking new revenue opportunities.
  • Assess customer needs and deliver exceptional service (consultative sales).
  • Participate in inventory management activities.
  • Manage accounts payable for the customer base.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities.
  • Conduct end-of-day sales reconciliations.
  • Possess a working knowledge of metal building panels and related components.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 weeks annually.
  • Engage in cross-training with other departments to improve overall effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with customers outside of the designated territory to minimize management conflicts.
  • Limit sales activities to customers within the assigned territory.
  • Conduct thorough surveys of potential customers to mitigate territory management issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Experience in retail sales and familiarity with metal building components is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of installation techniques for products offered.
  • Strong time management capabilities.
  • Ability to forecast, budget, and strategize sales elements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
