Job Summary

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Food Room Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our Emergency and Family Assistance department, you will be responsible for maintaining the food room, ensuring compliance with health codes, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Room Management: Maintain a clean and organized food room, ensuring all food and supplies are properly stored and rotated to prevent spoilage or shortage.
  • Health and Safety: Monitor and maintain accurate temperature logs for refrigerators and freezers, and ensure all health codes are met.
  • Inventory and Ordering: Manage inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and maintain accurate records of stock and usage.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to clients, including answering questions and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Assist with coordinating volunteer groups and ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to complete their tasks.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory, temperature logs, and other relevant data, and enter data into our database as required.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
  • Certifications: Serv-Safe certification required within a specified timeframe.
