Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at WellSpan Health. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound exams and assisting physicians in the selection of practical applications and technical factors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily start-up and shut-down procedures, including daily logs
  • Collaborate with staff members and management team to identify and initiate interventions to deal with problems, needs, and issues
  • Maintain a professional image that reflects the employee's role in healthcare
  • Assist in the orientation of new personnel or trainees to the department
  • Assist in maintaining equipment assigned to patient care and report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel
  • Verify patient identification and correct procedure by checking physician orders
  • Obtain relevant and accurate patient history and explain procedure and equipment to patients
  • Communicate pertinent information and accurately report it to primary care personnel
  • Recognize and respond to priorities in patient care and adapt to changes in workload
  • Document interventions in the EPIC System and Synapse
  • Check images with radiologists prior to biopsy and maintain infection control standards
  • Utilize proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self and others
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and activate downtime forms during planned and unplanned EPIC and/or Synapse downtime periods
  • Prioritize and coordinate workload to complete tasks efficiently
  • Maintain appropriate quantities of supplies and ensure security of injectables and supplies
  • Check the communication clipboard for recent changes to protocol and offer suggestions to improve workflow
  • Maintain current knowledge through reading journals, attending meetings/in-services, or CEU's to maintain certification

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school in an allied health occupation or an ultrasound school
  • Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required
  • One year experience in an ultrasound lab preferred
  • Registered in Ultrasound by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) in abdomen or OB-GYN
  • Must achieve Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through RDMS within twelve months of hire date
  • Current CPR/AED certification required
