Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Transportation Operations Specialist to join our team at the State of Maine. As a key member of our transportation team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across our state's roadways and bridges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tasks related to roadway maintenance, including repair and replacement of roads, bridges, and culverts.
- Operate heavy equipment, such as snowplows and graders, to clear roads and maintain road surfaces.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of departmental vehicles and equipment.
- Participate in training programs to develop skills and knowledge in areas such as commercial driving, snow fighting, and flagging.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Required to work at a higher class as necessary and in accordance with required licenses and/or certification.
- Must obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period.
- Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months.
- Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time.
