Position Overview

As a LEAD PLASTIC FABRICATION SPECIALIST, you will play a pivotal role in the COATINGS and COVERINGS SHOP within the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT. Your expertise will guide a team to ensure that all work tasks are executed efficiently and effectively.

Eligibility Criteria

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of ongoing preservation tasks performed by shop personnel to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Evaluate and address deficiencies in coatings and ongoing work to adhere to supervisory directives and minimize rework.
  • Identify optimal methods, techniques, materials, and tools for achieving high-quality surface finishes.
  • Execute Ultra High Pressure Water Jetting (UHPWJ) on ship exteriors from heights up to 100 feet.
  • Supervise and direct teams of up to 30 employees in the application, manufacturing, and repair of coating materials.
Conditions of Employment
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be suitable for federal employment.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program is required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-appointment physical examination is mandatory.
  • Must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times during work.
  • Work may involve exposure to hazardous physical and chemical agents.
  • Ability to travel as required for job duties.
  • Physical demands include climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
