Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team at RESONAC - Graphite Business Unit. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering design and project management expertise to support the success of our electrode manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of engineering projects from project request to project closure, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Lead project teams in the development of solutions to project requests, utilizing your expertise in mechanical engineering design and project management.
  • Design solutions and produce drawings based on scope of work and interaction with end-users, ensuring compliance with company and plant policies.
  • Formulate scope and specifications for the purchase of capital and non-capital equipment and contract labor, leveraging your knowledge of project management methodologies such as PMBOK.
  • Develop and utilize project risk management plans to mitigate potential risks and ensure project success.
  • Prepare appropriation requests for capital equipment purchases and major repairs, working closely with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Track and forecast project schedules and costs, utilizing tools such as Gantt charts to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Accomplish project work with vendors and contractors through professional and effective use of established departmental and divisional purchasing procedures.
  • Develop Bills of Material and recommendations for spares for all project equipment, ensuring optimal equipment performance and reliability.
  • Provide training to end-users on changes to existing equipment and new installations, ensuring a smooth transition and minimizing downtime.
  • Recommendations to Maintenance on PM activities for new equipment, ensuring optimal equipment performance and reliability.
  • Insist on the highest expectations of quality, safety, and housekeeping from contractors on jobs for which you are PPR, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Support focused improvement efforts through improvements to maintenance practices and design changes to existing equipment, driving continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Support Operations in assigned plant areas by staying engaged in equipment reliability and knowledgeable of recurring malfunctions, ensuring optimal equipment performance and reliability.
  • Provide necessary updating to drawings created by modifications to equipment, errors, etc., ensuring accuracy and compliance with company and plant policies.
  • Assure compliance with Company and Plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, and good housekeeping practices.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering design and/or project management experience.
  • Knowledge/experience of project management methodology such as PMBOK or similar.
  • Experience in heavy industry preferred.
  • Working experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, material handling systems, and/or thermal oil systems preferred.
  • AutoCAD and Inventor proficiency.
  • MS Office and SAP proficiency.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, customers, engineering consultants, external suppliers, and vendors.
  • Design and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability - troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and countermeasure identification.
