Position Overview

We are looking for a committed and empathetic Behavioral Support Specialist to enhance our educational environment. The successful candidate will possess experience in assisting students facing behavioral, social, and emotional challenges within a school framework. This role requires collaboration with educators, school leaders, and families to create and execute effective strategies that promote positive behavior and foster student achievement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related discipline (Master's degree is advantageous).
  • Relevant certifications or licenses in behavior analysis (e.g., BCBA, BCaBA, RBT) or social/emotional learning (SEL) are preferred.
  • Experience with a diverse range of behavioral needs in an educational setting is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of behavioral theories and proven intervention methods.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with students, educators, families, and administrative staff.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a sincere dedication to assisting students with behavioral difficulties.
  • Current certification in Michigan or the capability to obtain it.
  • Completion of the MTTC test relevant to the endorsement is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine the root causes of challenging behaviors.
  • Design, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on behavior management techniques and social/emotional learning.
  • Lead initiatives for effective restorative practices within the school.
  • Engage with families to ensure consistent behavioral expectations and reinforcement strategies are maintained at home and in school.
  • Facilitate connections between home, external agencies, and the school to provide comprehensive support.
  • Track student progress and adjust support plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to enhance social and emotional support structures.
  • Assist in crisis situations and develop intervention strategies.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of behavioral data and intervention strategies.

Compensation: As per the Master Contract.
