At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Overview

The Investment Management Consultant delivers financial guidance and investment strategies to prospective and existing clients. Assists clients in recognizing their unique financial aspirations and then proposes tailored plans and products to facilitate goal attainment. The Consultant is tasked with cultivating, enhancing, and sustaining relationships with investment management clients, trust clients, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders, and is expected to establish a network of influential contacts. This role often collaborates within a team-oriented client service framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively engages with high-value prospects and clients of the Bank to promote financial planning, trust, and investment management services, while collaborating with influential contacts to generate business opportunities.
  • Conducts comprehensive needs assessments with current and potential clients, providing ongoing advice and support.
  • Recommends suitable products and services tailored to client needs, considering objectives, tax and estate requirements, risk tolerance, and appropriate asset allocations.
  • Identifies and refers business opportunities to other divisions within the Bank as necessary.
  • Delivers exceptional service in addressing customer needs, inquiries, and challenges.
  • Maintains regular communication with existing clients, beneficiaries, and referral sources to uncover new or additional sales opportunities.
  • Represents the Bank in community organizations and initiatives to enhance the Bank's reputation.
  • Develops and sustains a referral network of internal and external sources for additional sales opportunities.
  • Adheres strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Bank and regulatory standards, policies, and practices.
  • Completes all sales activity documentation to maintain a record for performance tracking and assist in targeting future sales efforts.
  • This role may require occasional travel for training and team meetings, and a willingness to travel periodically as needed.
  • May necessitate work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external clients.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • CFP preferred.
  • 5-10 years of prior experience in financial services, or advanced designations and/or preparatory work or guidance may sometimes be assessed in lieu of experience.
  • Knowledge of financial planning and estate planning techniques.
  • Proven success in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines without constant supervision.
  • Sales-oriented, personable, and persuasive demeanor.
