Job Overview

The Christman Company is a leading national general contractor seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Estimator to join our team in the greater Central Michigan region.

Estimated Salary:$85,000 - $110,000 per year

Job Description:

As an Electrical Systems Estimator, you will play a critical role in the preconstruction process by leading conceptual estimating efforts to produce accurate construction cost budgets and estimates. You will assist throughout the design phase services, working closely with the Preconstruction team members to successfully deliver projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in conceptual estimating, including scope review, subcontractor knowledge, On-Screen Takeoff, and estimating software platforms.
  • Develop skills in structural and civil estimating at concept and schematic design stages.
  • Improve knowledge of client relations and estimate presentations.
  • Cultivate deeper understanding of technical specifications and pricing levels.
  • Meet deadline challenges and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with the bid team to prepare accurate bid proposals.
  • Provide technical assistance to Project Managers in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc.
  • Ensure clean handoff of estimate, bidding information, drawings, specifications, etc., to project management teams.
  • Perform quantity take-offs.
  • Honor the brand promises of the Project Planning Group at Christman.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of work experience in construction or a related field.
  • Familiarity with construction project management software.
  • Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to contribute as a member of a team and help others succeed.

Work Environment:

This position will be conducted in a temperature-controlled professional office environment, with moderate noise levels. You will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and file cabinets. While performing the duties of this role, you will regularly require talking, listening, sitting, walking, reaching, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and using hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and operate a computer keyboard and phone while maintaining visual acuity. You may occasionally need to lift and carry lightweight objects (under 20 pounds).
