The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a distinguished academic with a strong background in synthetic biology, biotechnology, or related fields to join the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. As part of the Wisconsin Research, Innovation and Scholarly Excellence (RISE) Initiative, this position will contribute to the development of sustainable biofuels and biomaterials, and address barriers to their adoption through public opinion, policy, and economics.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, and sustainability science
- Mentor graduate students and supervise their research
- Develop and direct a well-recognized and extramurally funded research program
- Participate in departmental and university faculty governance
- Contribute to professional and public service, and participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts
- PhD in synthetic biology, biotechnology, agricultural/biological engineering, applied economics, science communication, or related fields
- Expertise in developing biological systems for producing renewable materials, chemicals, and fuels, or social science related to their adoption
- Excellent academic record, vision for an innovative and impactful research program, and commitment to high-quality and inclusive undergraduate and graduate instruction and mentoring
