Job Title: Mechanic

Wm. T. Burnett & Co. is a leading manufacturer of technical foam and fiber products for various industries. As a Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our polyurethane foam manufacturing facility in Jessup, MD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and improve operating systems, suggesting redesign initiatives as needed.
  • Assist in inventory control and maintenance store operations.
  • Diagnose machine malfunctions, determine the need for adjustment or repair, and implement corrective actions.
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Replace worn or defective parts with new ones or repair drive mechanisms or hydraulic systems.
  • Realign and adjust components, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Locate and repair damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machines.
  • Assemble and test-operate machines to verify correction of malfunctions.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate parts as needed to effect necessary repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe maintenance shop environment.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift and carry more than 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
Work Environment:
  • Exposed to wet and humid conditions, risk of electrical shock, and moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to excessive heat.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions.
  • Work environment is generally not loud.
