At Ryan Specialty, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Binding Authority Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for evaluating complex risks, negotiating terms, and binding coverage agreements.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and authorize complex business submissions and new risks submitted by brokers, evaluating historical performance and determining appropriate risk levels.
- Negotiate profitable binding terms while brokering complex risks to successfully negotiate a placement and deliver on underwriting targets.
- Determine the profitability of premium amounts and evaluate the possibility of losses due to catastrophe or excessive insurance.
- Demonstrate understanding of binding authority underwriting guidelines, best practices, and ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory policies and procedures.
- Create, maintain, and update binding authority underwriting guidelines and examine and modify policy language as needed.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with brokers, agents, and fellow underwriters to deliver a profitable book of business.
- Develop and enhance understanding of taxation rules for different countries and ensure appropriate filing.
- Coach new binding authority underwriters and enhance their technical expertise and insurance knowledge.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Binding Authority and Insurance Underwriting with a Bachelor's degree, or 6 years of experience and a Master's degree.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred; Business Administration, Risk Management preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
- Prescribed: Minimum requirements for state P&C and/or surplus line licenses
- Preferred: Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
The target salary range for this position is $108,000 to $142,275.00 annually. The wage range considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
