POSITION SUMMARY:

The Finance Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's accounting functions. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data by reviewing, recording, and analyzing transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains comprehensive general ledger records, prepares journal entries, and verifies business transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP; reconciles accounts and accounting modules.
  • Supervises all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and general ledger management.
  • Coordinates the activities of the accounting staff, providing supervision, evaluation, training, mentoring, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Calculates, generates, and processes sales commissions efficiently.
  • Manages Treasury functions by entering payments and foreign exchange transactions in the banking portal, while monitoring positive pay to prevent fraud.
  • Oversees Fixed Assets modules, prepaid expense schedules, and inter-company transactions.
  • Analyzes and recommends improvements to internal control procedures, accounting systems, and participates in ongoing process enhancements.
  • Assists in the preparation of financial statements, variance reports, and budget forecasts.
  • Coordinates and engages in month-end and year-end closing processes, as well as annual audits. Performs additional related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additional accounting experience may be considered in lieu of the required education.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced financial accounting and relevant regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; effective time management skills; meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in prioritizing projects and responsibilities while managing multiple tasks. Understanding of customer service principles and practices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in a standard office environment. The role typically involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While primarily sedentary, some filing may be required, necessitating the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and occasionally stand or bend as necessary. Some travel may be involved.
