Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medication Aide to join our team at UTMB Health. As a Medication Aide, you will play a critical role in providing patient care and ensuring the safe administration of medications in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and document patient data, including vital signs, height and weight, and intake and output
  • Perform Point of Care Testing and report results
  • Assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse, including bathing, oral suctioning, and wound care
  • Provide medication administration and documentation, adhering to Title 40, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 95
  • Ensure drug room security and maintain the upkeep of facility drug room and pharmaceutical equipment
  • Enter medication compliance into the pharmacy computer system
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to internal controls and reporting structures
Requirements
  • High school or GED equivalent
  • Current Texas Certified Medication Aide permit
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced correctional environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Work Environment

The work environment is located in a clean and safe medical facility within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. The role requires moderate to extreme physical effort, including walking, standing, and lifting materials, equipment, objects, and/or patients. The ability to work under stress and be emotionally capable of coping with complex and/or changing activities is essential.
