Job Summary

The Senior Assistant General Counsel in the Contracts and Corporate Counseling Division at The Chicago Housing Authority works closely with the Department of Procurement and other agency departments to prepare contracts for various user departments. Key responsibilities include negotiating, drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts, preparing intergovernmental agreements, and counseling on contract interpretation, administration, and closure.

Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and draft contracts, including construction contracts and contractor agreements.
  • Provide advice and guidance on contract interpretation, administration, and closure.
  • Assist with procurement matters, including drafting solicitation and contract documents.
  • Research and provide counsel on regulatory considerations for planning and implementing CHA business initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications

A Juris Doctorate Degree, admission to the Illinois Bar, and a minimum of eight years' experience in contract law are required. Strong writing, oral communication, and research skills are essential, as well as solid analytical and problem-solving ability. The ideal candidate will be a team player with expertise in contract law and experience in city or local agency procurement.

This position will report to the main office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Telework is not eligible.
