Job Summary

Join Engineering Services & Products C as a skilled Welder 1st Shift to play a crucial role in our manufacturing process. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for welding various metal components to ensure high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by Welding Engineer or Welding Technician.
  • Start power supply to produce electric current.
  • Strike (form) arc which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to workpiece and join edges of workpiece.
  • Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal or vertical positions.
  • Examine weld for bead size and other filler rod manually to supply weld metal.
  • Clean or degrease weld joint or workpiece.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
  • Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarring surfaces.
  • Chip off excess weld, slag, and workpiece with hand torch or heating furnace.
  • Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.
  • Tack assemblies together.
Requirements
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the company.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
