Job Summary

This position is responsible for creating a nurturing and educational environment for children, promoting their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

The Lead Teacher will work collaboratively with the Assistant Teacher to provide a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere, adhering to the guidelines set by the Tennessee State Department of Human Services.

The successful candidate will report to and be supervised by the Director of St. Paul UMC Preschool.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement daily lesson plans aligned with the Tennessee Early Learning Development Skills (TN-ELDS) and submit them to the Director.
  • Prepare instructional materials tailored to students' interests and abilities.
  • Supervise and maintain the safety of all students in the classroom and throughout the preschool.
  • Implement guidance policies and behavior modification plans adopted by St. Paul UMC Preschool.
  • Assess students twice a year and provide written progress to parents and the Director.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and communicate daily with parents during pick-up and drop-off.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and daily logs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in early childhood education.
  • Pass a background check.
