As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters, driving a culture of underwriting excellence, and providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and guidance to increase underwriting skill sets and maximize performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of underwriters, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality underwriting services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive underwriting excellence, including the creation of employee development plans and the provision of training and coaching to underwriters.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement business plans, including marketing, underwriting, training, and administration functions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual marketing plans in assigned marketplaces.
  • Participate in the delivery of products and services to meet producers and customers' needs.
  • Understand and apply insights of the surety products and capabilities of competitors, monitoring and analyzing market activity, agency/customer market penetration, and successes/losses against key competitors.
  • Designate or act as a Key Relationship Manager for specific customers.
Requirements
  • 7 years of progressive surety underwriting experience.
  • Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks within scope of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information.
  • Capability to mentor and share information with less experienced employees for underwriting and training purposes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external partners.
