Food Safety Manager

Specialty Foods Group is seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Manager to lead the development and implementation of all plant Food Safety programs according to regulations, corporate policies, customer requirements, and certification standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee and lead management of HACCP Plans, including annual reassessment and validation, SSOPs, GMPs, and pre-requisite programs.
- Manage food safety functions and positions of on-site micro laboratory, Micro Lab Tech, HACCP Coordinator, and the Raw Analyst.
- Lead foreign material investigations and foreign material prevention programs.
- Liaison with on-site FSIS inspection staff, including attending weekly meetings.
- Investigate, resolve, and gather data for corrective actions for customer complaints.
- Investigate, resolve, and gather data for responses to the QA Manager.
- Develop and conduct food safety trainings for plant employees.
- Oversee implementation of SQF Program, including completion of internal audits.
- Responsible for supervising the food safety and laboratory procedures of the company.
- Develop and implement programs for HACCP, GMP, chemical control, glass control, SSOPs, and all required plant programs.
- Ensure identification, labeling, and traceability system function as planned.
- Actively pursue regulatory and industry updates related to regulation changes and new technologies.
- Work cooperatively with various departments.
- Bachelor's degree in food science, biology, animal science, or a related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 5+ years Food Safety experience in a USDA meat facility.
- Knowledgeable and certified in HACCP and SQF, PCQI certified, preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- Strong statistical analysis abilities.
- Compliance & Integrity: Ensure all FSQA practices meet or exceed regulatory and customer requirements. Maintain a high level of integrity in all food safety and quality activities.
- Operational Efficiency: Optimize FSQA processes to ensure high standards without compromising production flow or efficiency.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster a proactive culture of continuous improvement, staying ahead of potential issues and driving FSQA performance.
- Team Development: Build and maintain a motivated FSQA team, providing ongoing training and opportunities for growth.
- Communication & Reporting: Provide timely, clear communication with senior management, regulatory bodies, and customers on all FSQA-related issues.
