About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Criminal Investigator to join our Investigations Division Enforcement team at the Georgia Department of Community Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough and impartial investigations into alleged or suspected violations of laws, rules, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct investigations into alleged or suspected violations of laws, rules, and regulations, gathering and analyzing evidence to determine the facts of each case.
  • Collaborate with other authorities, such as law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies, to share information and coordinate efforts.
  • Conduct background investigations and examine records to locate links in the chain of evidence or information.
  • Obtain and verify evidence by interviewing and observing suspects and witnesses, or by analyzing records.
  • Prepare detailed reports that document investigation findings and recommendations for further action.
  • Train to identify case issues and evidence needed to support investigations.
  • Utilize proper software programs to store, collate, and review financial information and evidence.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or two years of experience in law enforcement or a related field with P.O.S.T. certification.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in conducting criminal investigations, with a strong background in law enforcement or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to confidentiality and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years of experience leading and directing law enforcement activities, with a strong background in investigations and enforcement.
  • Three to five years of investigative experience conducting criminal investigations in a law enforcement agency, with a strong understanding of laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience in gathering information, writing, obtaining, and executing search warrants, with a strong understanding of search and seizure laws.
  • Experience managing a caseload of complex investigations, with a strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience writing detailed investigative reports, with a strong ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
