Job Summary

Prisma Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health Educator to join our team. As a Health Educator, you will play a critical role in promoting health and wellness within our communities. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement health education programs, coach high-risk individuals, lead support groups, teach wellness classes, and report outcomes for Prisma Health and corporate wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage internal wellness programs, serving as a liaison between the Business Health department and various other departments within Prisma Health.
  • Research and evaluate policies and procedures regarding system-wide wellness initiatives, lead a campus wellness committee, create and implement wellness programs, hold educational booths, schedule and teach classes, and communicate with campus representatives.
  • Manage external wellness programs, conducting one-on-one health coaching, holding monthly or quarterly status meetings with company representatives, assisting with screenings, and presenting aggregate report data to the company.
  • Coach low to moderate risk populations using strong motivational interviewing and public speaking skills.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field, education, wellness, or exercise science.
  • 1 year of experience in health promotion, intervention, education, exercise science, public speaking, or health coaching.
  • Basic computer skills, knowledge of office equipment, and proficiency in computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a health-related field.
  • Health education/coaching and/or personal training certification.
  • Experience in tobacco cessation, weight management, and/or coaching.
  • Knowledge of specific disease states, such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, CHF, CVD, COPD, obesity, depression/anxiety, tobacco use, etc.

Variable work schedule, with opportunities to work in both the Greenville and Columbia areas.
