The University of Iowa Health Care department of Food & Nutrition is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Clinical Dietitian to join our team. This role utilizes the Nutrition Care Process to assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for adult and geriatric inpatients on the behavioral health units. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide quality patient care, including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plans.
- Educate students with on-the-job training, evaluate their progress, and provide necessary support and assistance.
- Assess nutrition status and instruct/counsel patients on appropriate diets.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the development of nutritional components of care.
- Assist in the implementation of studies and short-term projects.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Participate in departmental/hospital committees as an active member.
- Review and analyze production, maintenance of standards, costs, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress and control costs.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
- Exercise functional supervision over Diet Clerks.
- Assist other dietitians as needed.

Requirements- A Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
- Licensure by the State of Iowa is required.
