In this position, you will deliver top-tier customer service to patients, colleagues, and referral sources by managing and overseeing front office operations. You will be responsible for accurately gathering patient details, insurance information, and pre-authorization data while adhering to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Building and maintaining strong customer service relationships with patients and referral sources is essential.
Your Contributions:
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, colleagues, and referral sources.
- Accurately gather insurance details, including eligibility, benefits, verification, and pre-authorization.
- Advise patients on their financial responsibilities after benefits verification.
- Collect co-payments and any applicable over-the-counter payments, ensuring proper cash handling.
- Maintain comprehensive and compliant patient files in accordance with Hanger's Compliance Policies.
- Safeguard the privacy and security of protected health information as per HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with patient follow-ups as needed.
- Support quality assurance efforts to ensure patient satisfaction with our services.
- Adhere to internal controls for cash handling, including billing data entry and bank deposits.
- Input patient demographics and insurance verifications accurately.
- Efficiently manage multiple phone lines.
- Document information clearly, concisely, and accurately.
- Organize patient charts and documentation following established protocols.
- Coordinate practitioner schedules to ensure adequate coverage for patient appointments.
- Process and track referrals, authorizations, and prescriptions to ensure timely completion.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience and Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
- At least one year of experience in customer service, administration, or a related field is required.
- Must achieve a minimum score of 70 on Hanger's behavioral skills assessment during the selection process.
- A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy standards are required.
- Experience in a medical front office or as a receptionist is preferred.
Key Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, oral (including telephone), and written communication skills.
- Ability to type at least 30 words per minute with accuracy.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Familiarity with the Alpha filing system.
- Understanding of medical reimbursement processes and terminology, along with front office duties.
- Proficient in using computers, including Windows-based software and email.
- Skilled in operating necessary office equipment such as fax machines, calculators, and copiers.
- Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and respect in all interactions.
- Prioritize patient-centered care, fostering trust and collaboration.
