In this position, you will deliver exceptional customer service to patients, colleagues, and referral sources by managing and coordinating front office operations. You will accurately gather all necessary patient and insurance information, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Building and maintaining strong customer service relationships with patients and referral sources is essential.

Your Contributions:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver top-tier customer service to patients, colleagues, and referral sources.
  • Accurately collect insurance details, including eligibility, benefits, verification, and pre-authorization.
  • Guide patients on their financial responsibilities once benefits are confirmed.
  • Collect co-payments and any applicable over-the-counter cash, following cash receipt protocols.
  • Maintain thorough and compliant patient files in line with Hanger's Compliance Policies.
  • Safeguard the privacy and security of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with patient follow-ups as required.
  • Support quality assurance efforts to ensure patient satisfaction with services provided by the Patient Care Center (PCC).
  • Adhere to internal controls for the proper handling of cash receipts, including billing system data entry and bank deposits.
  • Input patient demographics and insurance verifications accurately.
  • Efficiently manage multiple phone lines.
  • Document information clearly, concisely, and accurately.
  • Organize patient charts and documentation in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Coordinate practitioner schedules to ensure adequate coverage for patient appointments and calls.
  • Process and track referrals, authorizations, and prescriptions to ensure timely receipt of complete information.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • At least one year of customer service, administrative, or related experience required.
  • Must achieve a minimum score of 70 on Hanger's behavioral skills assessment during the selection process.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy standards.
  • Experience in a receptionist role or with medical front office responsibilities is preferred.

Additional Success Factors:

  • Strong interpersonal, oral (including telephone), and written communication skills.
  • Ability to type 30 words per minute with accuracy.
  • Capability to work with individuals with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with the Alpha filing system.
  • Understanding of medical reimbursement, terminology, and front office duties is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using computers, including Windows-based software and email.
  • Ability to operate necessary office equipment, including fax machines, calculators, postage machines, and copiers.
  • Exhibit integrity in all interactions, maintaining honesty, transparency, and respect.
  • Prioritize patient-centered care in all actions, fostering trust.
  • Encourage open collaboration and constructive dialogue with colleagues.
