Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team. As a Patient Services Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage patient encounters and interactions with a high level of professionalism and empathy.
  • Perform all tasks necessary to ensure a successful visit, including registration, billing, and scheduling.
  • Operate computer terminals and practice management systems with ease and accuracy.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage radiology prior authorization processes and schedule tests as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including supply levels and daily start-up and shut-down functions.
  • Collect co-payments, cash receipts, and referrals, and perform daily reconciliation.
  • Monitor waiting room and patient flow processes to ensure efficient and effective service.
  • Complete follow-up tasks, including reviewing patient lists and obtaining necessary forms and authorizations.
  • Perform check-out functions, including scheduling follow-up visits and providing patients with necessary documentation.
  • Assist with patient transport and support administrative and clinical staff as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-high school education preferred.
  • Minimum one year of applicable work experience required.
  • Additional training in office systems preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of practice operations and standards.
  • Understanding of procedures, including filing, copying, scanning, printing, and faxing.
  • Ability to use phone systems, answer routine questions, and give routine information.
  • Ability to interpret information, answer routine questions, and communicate in a professional, courteous, clear, and concise manner.
  • Ability to manage work processes in a neat and orderly way and to sort and alphabetize.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, follow established protocols, and work within systems.
  • Ability to correspond and communicate with others clearly and effectively in writing.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology, insurance types, and referral processes.
  • Knowledgeable and compliant with all hospital, state, and federal requirements, including policy and procedures with The Joint Commission and HIPAA.

Working Conditions

Hospital-based ambulatory practice with some exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, needles, and blood products.
