Security and Loss Prevention Specialist

Location: Tyler, TX

Job Overview

The Security and Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for providing armed security and overseeing loss prevention measures across designated properties of Brookshires Grocery Company. This role involves assisting with investigations as directed by management to ensure the safety and security of company assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver armed physical security and loss prevention services at assigned locations.
  • Support asset protection training initiatives and conduct internal investigations as required.
  • Monitor and maintain safety and security equipment and protocols.
  • Provide on-site training for newly appointed security personnel.
  • Address staffing shortages due to scheduling conflicts.
  • Manage the use and upkeep of security alarms and systems at non-retail locations.
  • Regulate vehicular and pedestrian access and traffic at non-retail sites.
  • Adhere to state and private security regulations and safety standards.
  • Assist with company vehicle operations as necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic understanding of warehouse communication systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer medical evaluation, including a medical background check, vision and hearing tests, and a physical agility assessment.
  • Capability to demonstrate safe firearm operation.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret various types of information.
  • Proficient in preparing reports and business correspondence.
  • Skilled in researching information, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Aptitude for learning new technology systems, methods, and processes.
  • Strong reasoning skills to identify and solve problems.
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Willingness to travel to off-site and out-of-town locations, including potential overnight stays.
  • Flexibility to work on-call and accommodate varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compliance with the BGC Driver policy for driving responsibilities.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education is necessary.
  • A valid state driver's license is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Vocational/Technical school training is preferred.
  • Prior experience in law enforcement or military service is advantageous.
  • Texas Department of Public Safety Level III certification is required (Texas Only).
  • Department of Public Safety Level IV certification is preferred.
  • Must successfully pass a post-offer physical agility test, which includes specific physical tasks.

Physical requirements include the ability to use close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Continuous standing or walking is required, along with frequent communication and use of hands for various tasks. Occasional lifting of objects up to 40 lbs and other physical activities may be necessary.
