The Investment Strategy Analyst will collaborate closely with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Managing Directors to facilitate macroeconomic research and investment strategy analytics within the Cleveland Clinic Investment Office.
The Analyst's responsibilities will encompass quantitative analysis and qualitative evaluations in support of (i) asset allocation assessments, (ii) scenario modeling, (iii) analyzing and executing portfolio tactical trades as directed by the Investment team, and (iv) special projects assigned by the Managing Director of Research and Chief Investment Officer.
Additionally, the Analyst will contribute to the preparation of quarterly reports and other timely presentations for Cleveland Clinic stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Engages in idea generation, market research, and analytical activities that yield actionable investment opportunities across various asset classes.
Conducts comprehensive market and asset class evaluations to adequately support the underwriting of investment themes and individual managers, focusing on both risk and return profiles. This includes market mapping, overviews, and assessments of potential equity, fixed income, hedge fund, private capital, and real asset managers, along with economic and market analyses. Maintains both quantitative and qualitative performance metrics and holdings within the Clinic's internal database.
Works in conjunction with the risk management team at the inception of new investments to establish enhanced governance, oversight, and agreed-upon boundaries and exit strategies for individual investments and/or investment themes. Continuously evaluates risk for existing investments.
Prepares internal monthly and quarterly reports detailing manager and/or portfolio performance, exposures, concentrations, and other portfolio characteristics. Interfaces with existing and prospective managers, custodian banks, and external service providers.
Collects economic data and develops market analyses for the internal team, presenting contrarian perspectives.Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Business, Economics, or Mathematical Sciences is required.
A Master of Business Administration or Master of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, or Mathematical Sciences with a strong academic record is preferred.
Certifications:
Possession or progression toward Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) is required.
Complexity of Work:
This role requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The Analyst must be capable of functioning in a high-pressure environment.
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Factset, and Bloomberg is essential.
Work Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in Investment Banking, Management Consulting, or Asset Management is required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment; ability to travel as necessary; ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Adheres to standard precautions using personal protective equipment.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education. This does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package, which encompasses healthcare, dental, vision, and retirement options.
