Job Summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking a faculty member for a full-time position in the subspecialty of pediatric and adult strabismus. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level and will be either on the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care for patients with pediatric and adult strabismus at the University of Iowa Health Care university campus and UI Pediatric Specialty Clinic (PSC).
  • Participate in the education and training of residents and fellows in the Ophthalmology training program.
  • Contribute to the department's research efforts, including clinical trials and basic science research.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to advance the department's mission and goals.
Requirements
  • Medical doctorate (MD) or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Graduation from a fully accredited ophthalmology residency.
  • Subspecialty training in pediatric and adult strabismus.
  • Demonstrated medical and surgical skills in pediatric and adult strabismus.
  • Demonstrated experience with resident and fellow training.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in clinical or basic science research.
  • Expertise in diagnostic and treatment of pediatric low vision.
  • Expertise in diagnostic and treatment of inherited eye disorders.
  • Expertise in diagnostic and treatment of pediatric neuroophthalmological disorders.
