At Johnson Regional Medical Center, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our Environmental Services team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, nursing units, offices, and clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
  • Maintain and ensure age-specific precautions.
  • Report safety hazards as appropriate.
  • Transport trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
  • Replenish supplies.
  • Follow all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions, and hand hygiene.
  • Maintain set quality standards when performing job duties.
  • Work day, evening, or night shift as assigned.
  • Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
  • Observe safety precautions at all times.

  • Complete annual education requirements.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled. Complete work within designated time.
  • Wear identification while on duty; use the computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Work at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, health plans, and staff.
  • Attend annual review and departmental inservices, as scheduled.
  • Attend staff meetings; or read and return all staff meeting minutes.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regulatory Requirements:
  • Preferred high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Preferred one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills:
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skills:
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Physical Demands:
  • Normal hospital environment. Normal/corrected eyesight. Hearing within normal range. Exposure to chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards. Operates floor machines - buffers, scrubbers, and wet vacuums. Continuous walking and standing. Lifting up to 80 pounds. Carrying up to 40 pounds. Pushing/pulling up to 250 pounds.
