Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain the work area, bakery equipment, and display cases to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Prepare baking oven and use equipment under supervision to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Prepare and bake a variety of Mexican bread products, including bolillo, conchas, cookies, and donuts.
  • Apply finishing touches to bread products, including sugar, icing, and decorations.
  • Follow health and safety standards to prevent contamination and ensure a clean working environment.
  • Prepare invoices and maintain accurate records of sales and inventory.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Report any faulty equipment or hazards to management to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to write clear and concise notes, instructions, orders, invoices, and descriptions of cake orders.
  • 1 year of experience in the preparation of Mexican bakery products.
  • Basic knowledge of the variety and styles of Mexican bread.
  • Ability to read and write at a basic level in English and Spanish.
  • Conversational Spanish.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to flex, kneel, bend, and stoop.

Working Conditions:

The Bakery Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to heat, noise, and physical activity. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve our goals.
