Job Title: Senior Career Counselor

Join the University of California, Irvine as a Senior Career Counselor and play a pivotal role in shaping the career trajectories of our students. As a member of the Graduate and Professional Studies team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering a career services program that caters to the needs of our Master of Engineering and Master of Embedded and Cyber-physical Systems professional programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver career coaching services to students and alumni, including individual and group coaching, career-oriented workshops, and programming.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry professionals to establish and maintain relationships that support career development and placement.
  • Design and maintain a database to track and report on student and alumni career trajectories.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the Executive Committee and School leadership on career services and management platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, research, and best practices in career development and coaching.
Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in career development, counseling, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling process, career coaching techniques, and job search techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and establish cooperative working relationships with diverse clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of the entry-level engineering employment market and industry hiring practices.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop operational plans.
  • Analytical and written skills sufficient to research and develop statistical reports and other publications.
