About the Job

Under general direction, the Assistant Coach will assist with the management of a competitive NCAA Division I athletic program. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the head coach in running team practices, teaching offensive and defensive concepts, and overseeing drills.
  • Performing recruiting-related activities, including contacting high school players, scouting games, and assessing potential student athletes.
  • Making travel arrangements for the team and coaching staff, scheduling departures and arrivals, and making hotel reservations.
  • Overseeing the activity of student managers, ensuring assigned duties are completed.
  • Assisting in overseeing the conditioning and weight training program, ensuring student athletes' progress and adherence to the activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree, supplemented with two years of playing or coaching experience on the high school, collegiate, or professional level.
  • Knowledge of a specific sport's concepts and strategies, NCAA rules and regulations, physical conditioning techniques, and weight training.
  • Recruiting skills, verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and human relations skills, organizational and planning skills, leadership and motivational skills, and the ability to assess athletic talent.
  • A positive role model with a strong commitment to faith and service.
