Key Responsibilities of the Director of Nursing - Long-Term Care Center:

  • Oversees all nursing personnel, Revenue Cycle Management, Resident Assessment, and Activities departments.
  • Manages all supervisory functions related to nursing services.
  • Develops work schedules, delegates responsibilities, assigns tasks, evaluates employee performance, and addresses disciplinary actions for those not meeting job expectations or providing sufficient nursing care.
  • Establishes goals and standards for nursing services and conducts regular staff meetings to facilitate communication and discussions aimed at identifying areas for improvement.
  • Assists with personnel management activities in designated areas, offering guidance to Charge Nurses on the recruitment, training, and development of nursing staff, as well as performance evaluations, documentation of deficiencies, recognition of achievements, and disciplinary measures; develops, supervises, and assesses nursing staff; plans and executes disciplinary actions as necessary, collaborating with Human Resources as needed.
  • Provides recommendations to the facility administrator regarding the evaluation, promotion, transfer, or discipline of nursing staff.
  • Coordinates the monthly preparation of Productivity Reports for management, detailing staff contract hours and departmental statistics.
Qualifications for the Director of Nursing - Long-Term Care Center:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • A minimum of six months of experience in a nursing facility.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Must complete 30 hours of continuing education relevant to nursing administration every two years.
